MDTS Celebrate Another Successful Tournament
Hundreds of INTA colour belt students, along with many of their families and friends, gathered once again for the 2nd MDTS Invitational Colourbelt Taekwon-Do Tournament in the MDTS Kilternan Club based in Rosemont School, Enniskerry Road, Co. Dublin on Saturday 23rd May. Representatives from twenty clubs from all over the country took part, with some newer students getting their first experience of competitive patterns, sparring and special technique.
Master Douglas welcomed Master Brendan O’Toole, President of the INTA, and Master Terry Donnelly to the event. He was delighted with the turnout and the enthusiasm demonstrated by all the competitors who competed on the day. He had encouraged as many Colour Belt students as possible to take part in this competition – catering for as wide a range of levels as possible with divisions for male and female, Senior and Junior for patterns and sparring, and a popular special technique section (Overhead kick) for those aged 12 and under.
While thanking all those who took part, Master Douglas said:
“I believe that students, young and old, can gain valuable competition experience in this type of tournament, which is run under A.E.T.F. Rules. This also allows our members to build up confidence performing their patterns in front of officials and an audience – which will prove very helpful to anyone hoping to go for Black belt Grading in the future.”
Finally, he thanked all the umpires who gave up their time to make it such a great success, and those members who helped to plan the event, to set up and clean up afterwards.
We look forward to another great event next year.
